Aloft Perth
This is the first Aloft Hotel (owned by Marriott Hotels) in Australia. We were brought onboard to design and furnish the interiors of the lower floor – a cafe and restaurant (Springs Kitchen), Lobby and Reception, Refuel Bar, bar and café (WXYZ), pool area (Splash), plus games area (Backyard). The spaces were to be visually cohesive, yet still have their own identity through operational design and their look and feel. And we wanted to inject a welcoming vibe into the venue and to give it a personality. We were also contracted to bring a cohesive art collection through the venue, plus provide furniture for the Mezzanine, Conference Rooms and Rooftop balcony, and inject art and soft furnishings into the hotel rooms and furniture into the hallways.
We sourced materials and furniture internationally and locally from retailers and designer-makers, plus designed our own pieces, such as rugs and some dining tables. Lisa’s curatorial background led us to commission works by local and interstate artists, which included mixed-media pieces and large-scale insitu works. This was a project that required new design thinking and a design that would resonate with locals, the wider Perth community and visitors to Perth.
