/design intent “Indulge the playful, energetic brand culture of a Victorian cult burger joint in a new Perth precinct.”

This burger chain has risen to cult status in Melbourne, but this is the first of its type in Western Australia. We were charged with following the brand’s energetic culture, while working within the constraints of the building and a restrictive budget. Tapping into the inclusive, youthful vibe of the brand, our design required us to divide the service area into Uber and physical customer zones, providing seating areas for those who wait and dining areas for those who stay.

The brand selects a sports focus for its design inspiration, so we chose swimming, bringing in tiles and graphic executions that hint at the old mid-century swimming halls. A contemporary take on the traditional burger place, we brought in vinyl flooring and vinyl seating, blue, white and yellow fabrics and mirroring. Set in 90sqm with no clean wall to anchor to and a services duct at the front of the shop to work with, it was a challenging design and execution over a three-month concept and design phase and four-week build.
