The Boat

The Boat

design intent “Take a very dated hotel on a marina and morph it into a contemporary waterside destination.”

This was all about a facelift. The old girl was looking incredibly dated and despite the wonderful location – right on Mindarie Marina – it had lost its appeal. Having been a much-loved haunt for locals over many years, it was time for the well-used furniture and topless mermaids to go in favour of a new fresh-meets-classic look. Our scope involved painting, new materials and a loose furniture package; our brief was for a casual destination that would suit all people in the community. We brought in white paint and wood panelling, to give the venue a freshen up while referencing its waterside locale. Our design has also balanced attracting a new wider audience while not alienating the existing clientele.
