A revival that strikes a perfect balance between a new punchy direction and familiarity and comfort.

CLIENT

The reimagining of Eaton Tavern required an entirely new concept, with the venue keen to become a gathering place for a wide-ranging new audience.

Our scope included extensive refurbishment of the existing building; Bistro, Beer garden and the new Arcade games room. Through all-new interior design, fit out and furniture, the brief was to offer patrons of all ages and interests a range of spaces, to enjoy a meal and one another’s company.

CHALLENGE

The challenge of this project was to strike a perfect balance between a new punchy direction and familiarity and comfort. Additionally, the existing building was distinctly lacking in character and atmosphere, which meant it had a very long way to become one of the most successful local taverns in WA.

DESIGN

Our design was inspired by family diners as well as Australian pubs and sporting clubs from years gone by.  With features such as generous bars, custom booths, a retro arcade games room and a pool table, Eaton Tavern playfully nods to tradition while feeling fresh, modern and open.

Through lighting, colour, patterns and the display of an impressive memorabilia collection, the design draws in and welcomes socialisation.

Outdoors, flexible alfresco areas now offer relaxed, informal dining for groups, and throughout the venue plenty of big screens to enjoy your favourite sports.

OUTCOME

Eaton Tavern’s revival has delivered on brief, exceeding Client expectations, and continues to cements itself as a firm favourite of locals and beyond. Design Theory has delivered a successful project that works for all the right reasons.
